Playing With Music
By Susie Davies
Music is everywhere - in our bodies, in our environment,
it is part of the essence of every person
Music belongs to all of us - every single one of us regardless of our background, ability, training, etc.
Music develops confidence and self esteem. It can bring joy and happiness and opportunities to express our feelings and emotions. Music can heal and soothe our tired spirits. Music can heighten and enrich our lives.
An education in music can be the key to unlock the RIGHT side of the brain,
the creative side.
All children have the right to learn music - it is no longer for the musically gifted or elite. It is now common knowledge that all people can benefit from music education and experiences. With the right experience, all children can enjoy and learn music.
Music can help children in many areas of learning including social and physical development, language, creativity and imagination.
Music can enrich children's lives by providing opportunities for singing, movement, playing instruments, listening and being creative.
The first seven years of a child's life are crucial to the development of musical skills.
Let us see to it that our children receive a quality music education. If all children are involved in music from a young age, there will ultimately be more harmony in the world. Let's work toward making music an important part of our lives and our children's lives.
